and here she is in all her bioluminescent glory. I cheated with the color scheme since red's one of the first wavelengths to get absorbed underwater, but I like the way it looks so color theory be damned.

for a drawing contest at cghub, I was thinking about what would happen if mermaids fled to the deep sea to avoid man, and had to evolve to survive the harsh, lightless conditions there

this one's a little different from my usual subject matter, not as dark or twisted as I prefer (stay tuned for more on that). I worked up a couple of different backgrounds but wasn't really satisfied with either . . . in the end I preferred the character silo.

just got my copies of two books I have work featured in, The Fantasy Art Bible and The Fantasy Artist's Figure Drawing Bible. I only have a piece or two in each, but it's cool to be included alongside contemporary fantasy artists like Matt Dixon, Scott Purdy, and Eric Lofgren, among others.
